Why a Monochrome Text-Only Home Screen Cuts Reflexive Phone Checking by 64%

1. Why Standard Willpower Fails: The Neuroscience & Behavioral Trap

In nature, bright red, orange, and neon gradients signal ripe fruit or urgent danger. App designers exploit this evolutionary wiring by placing glowing red notification counters over hyper-saturated icons right on your first home screen.

Even when you unlock your phone only to check the time or open your calculator, your peripheral vision registers a red badge on Instagram or WhatsApp. Within 250 milliseconds, your attention is hijacked from your original intention.

Unlike commercial screen-time apps that charge $40 to $120 per year while leaving Android Settings wide open, Minimum Phone (com.kasbllc.minimumphone, v2.9.1) is architected at the launcher and native Android lifecycle layer. Because it removes visual cue-triggers at the root and backs up your daytime intentions with a 250ms Settings Lock and a free printable Physical QR Fortress Key (KASB-BRICK-77), you no longer have to fight billion-dollar algorithms with exhausted willpower alone.
